چکیده

A watershed scale lumped parameter hydrology and water quality model that includes an uncertainty analysis component was developed and tested on a lower coastal plain watershed in North Carolina. Uncertainty analysis was used to determine the impacts of uncertainty in field and network parameters of the model on the predicted outflows and nitrate-nitrogen loads at the outlet of the watershed. The model, which links DRAINMOD field hydrology and a spatially distributed routing model using a kernel function, accurately predicted the outlet flows and nitratenitrogen loads from a lower coastal plain watershed. Model predictions were within 1% of both measured outflows and nitrate-nitrogen loads. Uncertainty analysis indicated that uncertainty in stream velocities, decay coefficient and field exports significantly contributed to the uncertainty in the predicted outlet flows, loads and mean watershed delivery ratio.

Watgis: a Gis–based Lumped Parameter Water Quality Model

A Geographic Information System (GIS)–based, lumped parameter water quality model was developed to estimate the spatial and temporal nitrogen–loading patterns for lower coastal plain watersheds in eastern North Carolina. The model uses a spatially distributed delivery ratio (DR) parameter to account for nitrogen retention or loss along a drainage network. Delivery ratios are calculated from tim...

A Comparison of Mike She and Drainmod for Modeling Forested Wetland Hydrology in Coastal South Carolina, Usa

Models are widely used to assess hydrologic impacts of land-management, land-use change and climate change. Two hydrologic models with different spatial scales, MIKE SHE (spatially distributed, watershed-scale) and DRAINMOD (lumped, fieldscale), were compared in terms of their performance in predicting stream flow and water table depth in a first-order forested watershed in coastal South Caroli...

Comparison of Drainmod Based Watershed Scale Models

Watershed scale hydrology and water quality models (DRAINMOD-DUFLOW, DRAINMODW, DRAINMOD-GIS and WATGIS) that describe the nitrogen loadings at the outlet of poorly drained watersheds were examined with respect to their accuracy and uncertainty in model predictions. Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) was applied to determine the impact of uncertainty in estimating field exports and decay coefficien...

Watershed Models for Predicting Nitrogen Loads from Artificially Drained Lands

Non-point sources of pollutants originate at the field scale but water quality problems usually occur at the watershed or basin scale. This paper describes a series of models developed for poorly drained watersheds. The models use DRAINMOD to predict hydrology at the field scale and a range of methods to predict channel hydraulics and nitrogen transport. In-stream changes of N load are estimate...
